“The Rise of the Spirit of Antichrist”
Presented  by Pastor Phil Larson

I John 4:3, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.

We should not be surprised when we see what is happening in the world today.  As we see things getting darker from the economic crisis, to the unrighteousness that prevails in our nation. The Bible tells us that the spirit of the antichrist is and has been among us.  We are beginning to see this spirit rise up more and more as the times and the season’s progress.  We are closer to the end now more than ever.

It is important that we maintain our Trust in God. Years ago people talked more freely about God and His involvement in their lives and of their trust in Him. And because of this Christians have been instrumental in holding back this spirit.  But that atmosphere is changing.

2 Thes 2:1-7 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time.  For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.

Some of the things we will notice as this spirit rises are:  political change, social change, religious change, structural change and world change.   As we saw in this past election, even good people who should know better were sucked in by charm and charisma turning away from righteousness.

In spite of what we see, we must keep our eyes focused on Jesus and trust in God no matter what holding fast and firm to the author and finisher of our faith.
